Due to a recent change in ownership, VSP declined to continue their relationship with us. It had been a bit over 30% of our practice. We are currently booked about 30 days out, but our hardware sales took a big hit. It has been about 7 months, and they are slowly recovering.
As we all know from Econ 101, people (generally) act in their own economic best interest, which means they will follow their insurance benefits. Having said that, it appears that more and more people are losing their coverage. We also hear patients say they will take their Rx to one of two very well known national big box stores with opticals, due to their very low prices. We have brought in specially priced packages from our lab, which helps us retain those patients.

Latest on Hoya MyStyle situation
As of 2/16/2011, reports I am hearing seem to indicate two things - 1) The non-adapt rate has been very low, 11mm corridors notwithstanding, and 2)they continue to find areas in the order process that are not performing up to expectations.
I still think that this is a great lens, but I am willing to wait until all the bugs are ironed out before I order more for my patients - unless I want an 11mm corridor.

Need more proof that the Yellow Pages are going down? Read this article in the Huffington Post. A similar article mentions Seattle may also ban wholesale distribution of the Yellow Pages, and require those who want them to "opt-in". Not saying it's right or wrong, but l will say this just looks like more handwriting on the wall for this medium.
