Hey OpticalGod, we're sorry

Hey OpticalGod, we're sorry you feel that way. The purpose of SightNation is to give members of the people in the industry, like you, a forum to discuss issues that are important to them. Since this will rely heavily on user generated content, you'll have to forgive us a little during this initial growing stage while we try to build audience development. Perhaps there is an issue important to you that you'd like to share to help get the ball rolling?

That's because it has sorta

That's because it has sorta already become a place for docs to teach practice management, medical care, and so forth in many ways promoting themselves as consultants...which they are.
Now, don't read me wrong. I know, respect, and heed nearly all of the bloggers herein. I am thankful for Dr. Hayes, Dr. Diecidue, Al Kabat and the others. These folks will make you more successful. No doubt about it at all!
BUT...is that what the individual Sightnation member wants on the site? Well, some do, some don't, sometimes.
I think this will all improve as we members learn to use the site properly to find the kind of material we are looking for.
In the meantime, I urge my brother from Boise, the everhumble "OpticalGod" (hmmmm, cue the trumpets?), to be patient, to get involved in forums, and, of course, to always read my blog first. It prevents withering.

Give Sight Nation a chance

Give Sight Nation a chance before you consider it boring. Isn't that what GOD would do?

I think Monty's point is

I think Monty's point is interesting. what different roles do the "thought leaders" take on the optcom list compared to what it appears they are taking on sightnation? I think it is likely how it will play out here, although instead of in "forum" format it will take place in the more modern "social network" format. everyone can post on either site, and anyone can go viral on either site instantly making them a new thought leader, but this site has potentially much more exposure, industry wide as well as internet wide. Time will tell.
