Great question - I know that Nathan Bonilla-Walford and Justin Bazan do a fantastic job and are great people to learn from. To find more people involved in social media and eye care join the "Peripheral Vision" Facebook page and check out their efforts or talk to them about how they are using the medium

Want to bring attention to a new hashtag I created that is gaining momentum on Twitter. #MedicalMonday is meant to give a shout out to healthcare workers or businesses that are doing something right, making a difference out there or as an opportunity to draw attention to your eyecare social media efforts. On monday, hash something medical with #MedicalMonday

For those of you that are on

For those of you that are on Twitter, there is a Twitter chat called #EyeConnect. It takes place on the 2nd Monday of the month from 8-9pm CST. For more information you can follow @EyeConnect. David Rocks, OD, aka @AdvancedEyecare is the moderator. Topics discussed range from practice management to the latest in eye disease and primary care. It's a great place to ask other ODs what works for them and get answers to your specific questions. If you have any questions, you can let me know as I help out with the chat as well.

Thanks PinkEye (the name made me laugh)

People engaging in new media who are not utilizing the social part might be able to take it to the next level by doing so. Nothing wrong with new media alone; sometimes I am so busy I can only proliferate my content and not interact, but I try to as much as possible, just call it what it is!
