NEW YORK—A new group buying deal site for optometrists, www.EyeDeal.ly, will launch next week on May 16, developed to offer optometrists discounts of a minimum of 50 percent off of regular price for optical products and services, VMail has learned.
EyeDeal.ly has been created by Daniel Rostenne, founder and CEO of EyeCarePro.net, a leading web solutions and digital media company, which will operate EyeDeal.ly as a separate entity. Co-founder of the project is Alan Glazier, OD, owner of Rockville, Md.-based Shady Grove Eye & Vision Care, a social media expert, blogger and author.
EyeDeal.ly will offer special, limited-time discount deals on frames, lenses, contact lenses, optical equipment, office supplies, lab services and other items. Exclusive deals will be posted for purchase on the EyeDeal.ly
site for one week. EyeDeal.ly is encouraging signups now at its site, www.EyeDeal.ly where an introductory video explains the concept further. Practitioners who sign up will receive a weekly email describing the weekly deal. EyeDeal.ly will also be posting its exclusive weekly deals in
VMail.
Rostenne told VMail, "Groupon has blazed a trail through the consumer group buying market—why can't optometrists benefit from the same kind of deals and vendors benefit from the exposure? The practice can save money and the vendors can access new customers with guaranteed sales."
Participating doctors click a "Buy Now" button and then "Proceed to Check Out" to join in on the group deal. Once the minimum number of buyers is reached, cards will be charged; if EyeDeal.ly doesn't reach the minimum number, Rostenne said, the deal is over and cards won't be charged. There are no fees or minimum purchases, he added, “if you like what you see, buy it, it’s that simple.”
EyeDeal.ly is currently lining up a series of weekly exclusive group deals with suppliers, Rostenne said, with all deals contingent on a minimum number of practices buying in.
Glazier is a blogger for SightNation, a regular contributor to Vision Monday's CLICK e-newsletter on VisionMonday.com and Review of Optometric Business and recently authored a new book, Searchial Marketing. Rostenne and his company EyeCarePro.net regularly advise practitioners about digital media and web issues including Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Social Media Optimization (SMO). His posts can be found on the Eyecarepro.net blog, Facebook page, webinars, Review of Optometric Business, as well as through numerous state and associations' publications.
Rostenne and Glazier have established a new Facebook page for EyeDeal.ly at www.facebook.com/eyedeally.
